The Work Triangle

Kitchens are primarily squares and rectangles, but the most important shape in your kitchen is actually a triangle. The "work triangle" is made up by connecting the center front of the refrigerator, sink and range (or cooktop)--your three most used objects. By using the triangle to your advantage--you will save time and create a space that functions easily. Several examples of the work triangle are pictured in the "Kitchen Planning: Layouts".
