Shapes
There
are basically 6 fundamental shapes of the kitchen. Some have several names,
but they are the same:
•One Wall or Galley - All cabinets and appliances are on one wall.
•Corridor - Cabinets and appliances are on two facing walls.
•L-Shaped - Cabinets and appliances are on two walls that meet in a corner.
•L-Shaped with an Island - Cabinets and appliances are on two walls that
meet in a corner with an island.
•U-Shaped - Cabinets and appliances on three adjoining walls.
•U-Shaped with and Island - Cabinets and appliances on three adjoining
walls with an island.
•G-Shaped - Cabinets and appliances on three adjoining walls with a peninsula
attached.
•Open Plan - Includes kitchen area and other relaxing spaces such as a
dining room, family room, or sitting area.
