Professional Roles

Whether this is your first renovation or one of many, it is recommended that you seek professional assistance. So, "Who's Who" here and what can you expect from a trained professional? You may hire professionals to do part or all of the job. Architects, Kitchen Designers, Interior Designers, Contractors (General Contractors, Remodelers, and Home Builders) use their specific expertise to create your kitchen plans--either alone or as a team according to the size and scope of your needs.

As part of your search for a reputable professional, you may want to contact their trade association--as their membership indicates a commitment to the industry and staying abreast of the latest codes, trends, products, and materials. Each association maintains a web site offering the benefits of hiring their members, consumer tips, and a referral list, which may help locate a professional in your area.

Your contracts will be based on the final design and the scope of project management requested. (See more about Contracts and Hiring Professionals in Phase 2 - Planning.)

To find out more about "Who's Who" and their professional association, click on the guide tabs to the left.

Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984. In the beginning, we organized a handful of chefs to cook for fundraisers. Today we mobilize thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates.
