Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement to enhance life. It affects both the style and design of your environment. Its basic principles apply to the theories of Yin and Yang and a balance between the "Five Elements", which are Fire Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. The physical relationship between the natural environment and the magnetic field is also an important aspect of this design theory. It is a scientific discipline based upon the flow of energy. As such, flowing water, flow of traffic, entrances and exits (forms of egress), and the positioning of furniture are some of the distinct concerns relative to Feng Shui principles. Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984. In the beginning, we organized a handful of chefs to cook for fundraisers. Today we mobilize thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates.
