Refrigerators

If you have a large family or use a lot of fresh produce, you may want to have a separate refrigerator (or multiple refrigerators for different uses). The refrigerator is one of the three components of your work triangle and you need it to be strategically placed to reduce the steps between it and your sink and range or cooktop.

If you are looking at multiple refrigerators, you might include an undercounter refrigerator or refrigerator drawers. These can be installed in many locations, including beneath or adjacent to your prep-station. Beverages and snacks could be conveniently kept in a refrigerator unit that is placed outside your work triangle and the kitchen's traffic flow--thus keeping others from being underfoot. An ideal location for this would be at the end of a cabinet run or in an adjoining wet bar or entertainment area. Undercounter drawer units come in a set of two drawers (upper and lower) which can be either two refrigerators or two freezers. This option often appeals to homes with multiple cooks in the kitchen or those requiring Universal Design. Contact your Appliance Showroom or Contractor to review the cost of installing and operating this additional appliance.
