Refrigerator / Freezers

The most popular refrigeration unit in the U.S. is the combination refrigerator/freezer. The fresh food section gets used more than the freezer and the most accessible shelf space is between 22 - 56 inches off the floor. Therefore, it is suggested that the freezer section should be placed between 4 - 22 inches above the floor--however you will find a tremendous number of units with the freezer on top. Refrigerator/freezers come in three installation choices: freestanding, built-in, and boxed-in (which also includes new hybrids); and three configuration choices: side by side, refrigerator on bottom/freezer on top, and refrigerator on top/freezer on bottom.
