Microwave Ovens The
microwave is now considered a standard appliance by most homeowners. It
is invaluable when defrosting or re-heating foods. You can't "brown" in
a microwave oven, so if you want to use it to bake and roast, check out
the combination microwave/convection oven (this unit consists of a fan
and electric radiant-heat element). Additional features include child
lockouts, keypad releases, automatic defrosting and a range of preprogrammed
settings for pizza, popcorn, packaged dinners, etc. Many now also have
sensors designed to monitor when a meal has shed its water through cooking
and indicate that the meal is ready.
