Installations fall into three choices, freestanding, built-in, and boxed-in (see below for more details). As the refrigerator is an appliance that is opened quite often (estimated at 60 times per day for a family of four), placement must be convenient. In addition, notice the door swing--concerning both the hinging location and dimension of the open door. Placing a refrigerator in a high traffic aisle, near an opening or too close to a wall may cause problems.
