Grills Grills
are often the focal point of an outdoor entertainment/dining area. A grill
with adjoining counter space is a minimum requirement for safe outdoor
cooking. Grills are fueled by charcoal, propane or natural gas. Grill
units are no longer just for preparing meat, vegetables and fish. In fact,
some grills allow you to grill, sear, stir-fry, bake, roast and do rotisserie
cooking. Other options include storage compartments, drawers, side burners,
adjustable shelves, and even a wet bar. Grills can be built into an outdoor
island or remain freestanding. If you plan to build yours into an island,
your best choice is a gas grill that can be surrounded by incombustible
material (for a permanent look). Grills can be found with cooking areas
from 24" to 48" wide and 15" to 26" deep and offer separate cooking zones
and independent temperature controls. More expensive models come in high-grade
stainless steel and offer options of flame or radiant heat, different
types of grates, one or more side burners, and attached counter space.
Compare BTU levels as they vary with each model. Grill accessories are
abundant-look for quality and materials that won't rust if left out in
the rain.
