Framed
or Frameless
The construction of stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets can be made two ways.
Cabinets with a face frame will have a 1” to 1 ½” wide frame applied on the front
of the “box”.
These cabinets are known in the industry as framed cabinets.
The frame on the box (usually made of wood) gives it stability
and offers the option to attach the door as a full or partial
overlay, lipped, or inset.
Cabinets without a face frame are called frameless,
also known as full access or Eurostyle cabinetry.
This style features total accessibility into the cabinets
and maximizes drawer widths, since there is no frame attached
to the box. Because of its construction, the door can only be
attached as a full overlay with a concealed hinge.
