Most large home centers have a Kitchen Design Department with a staff of experienced Kitchen Designers (some may even be Certified Kitchen Designers), and Expeditors (who measure your kitchen). Installation is subcontracted. Kitchen Designers, Expeditors and Installers work as a team using materials sold at the home center to complete your kitchen. Home centers that are part of large chain have buying power that results in savings. However, home centers do not carry upper-middle and high-end products. If your needs can be met with the products and materials offered at a home center, this might be an option for the budget-conscious consumer. Convenience and savings are usually the reasons given for purchasing their new kitchen from a home center.
