Come For The Ideas ... Stay For The Savings!

For DIY'ers

Deciding to take on the kitchen design project by yourself is a big undertaking. To aid you in the process, home centers have many manuals on specific subjects. Each manual may have more resources for further help. As mentioned earlier, as a DIY'er you will be responsible for drafting a floor plan, obtaining necessary permits, compiling a detailed material list, demolishing the existing kitchen, re-framing, plumbing, electrical work, rough-in, drywall, soffits, new cabinets, countertops, flooring, fixtures, appliances, tiling, and painting and/or wallpapering. These areas are discussed in more detail under "Kitchens and Bathrooms" from Hometime®, or DIYonline.com, or "Remodeling a Kitchen - Replacing the Cabinets" from DoItYourself.com. Unless you happen to be a design professional, it is still a good idea to hire a Kitchen Designer to review your work. He or she can see if your plans have any potential problems, offer placement and creative options, and review your facts and figures--well worth the consultation fee.
