Display

When wall cabinets to not reach the ceiling, there can be a considerable amount of display (and/or storage) space above. Shelves can be installed just below the ceiling to display collectibles, plates and plants. See "Ceiling Space" for suggestions at the Interior Decorating section of About.com. In addition, shelving units can be installed (as either open or with glass doors) for displaying sentimental or decorative pieces. Sometimes an interesting item can be used in an unconventional way as a focal point.

Planning to display your collectibles requires you to take an inventory of your items, record their measurements, design the shelving unit, and create appropriate accent lighting. Often glass shelves are used if interior lighting is installed.

Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984. In the beginning, we organized a handful of chefs to cook for fundraisers. Today we mobilize thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates.
