Demolition

Once you're ready to begin the demolition phase, be sure to log onto "Remodeling A Kitchen-An Introduction to Dismantling" at DoItYourself.com or Remodeling Kitchens: Demolition & Framing" at Hometime.com.

Hometime's site reviews the most common mistakes made during demolition that often lead to damage to old cabinets, walls, countertops and/or floors. It should be emphasized to turn off utilities and seal kitchen at doorways and heating ducts (to minimize dust to rest of home) before beginning the project. There is a "Before You Start" checklist that is very helpful in covering areas you might have missed.
