Punch
List
A
punch list is created when you and your GC complete a final run-through
and inspection of your kitchen. Often the other professionals responsible
for your job will come in to contribute to this punch list. It is an inventory
that defines all items with missing pieces and parts, that don't work
correctly or were installed incorrectly, were damaged but are under warranty,
or are on backorder. This meeting will review all the items to create
a master punch list.
Prior to this meeting, walk through the kitchen during both daylight and
evening hours to make your own punch list. If you have effectively communicated
with your GC on a consistent basis, any major problems should already
have been addressed. In fact, any GC, worth their weight in gold, should
keep their own punch list and make or request corrections or repairs when
found.
The GC is only responsible to correct problems that were created by his
crews and subcontractors usually within a period of one year. If you purchased
a product or appliance, you are responsible for it--even if your GC installed
it for you.
